The apparent advantages of Multilevel Inverter (MLI) topologies in handling medium and high power with less loss switching lower harmonic distortion an output voltage waveform makes it better than the conventional inverter. However, MLI utilize a large number DC supplies semiconductor devices. They also have higher value total standing (TSV). Moreover, capacitor balancing problems, self-voltage boosting inability, complex control techniques require relook improvement their structure. More recently, Switched-Capacitor (SCMLI) been proposed to overcome shortcomings MLIs. In this paper, generalized structure for single-phase switched multilevel inverter capability is proposed. A detailed analysis general SCMLI presented. comparative structures carried out recently reported demonstrate superiority. An optimized low-frequency modulation controls waveform. simulation experimental results are included paper single-unit symmetric (9-level voltage) asymmetric (17-level configurations.
